Mohair with Shells

This is my latest creation, knitted on a 8 peg loom for consistency. This scarf will be the 2009 Christmas gift for my female coworkers (we have only4) (plus myself) that socialize somewhat in the geek department. Note, this is a shell beaded (real shells cut/drilled) scarf, made of a mohair blend yarn. All other scarves will be of the same yarn, again for consistency - you never favor a coworker regardless of their rank. Just different colors and different beads.

My mind is not yet made up yet on the bead situation. It will depend on finding out more about each coworkers personality throughout the year. Hopefully I wont have to string brown beads ... ;)

Houston Charity Knitting and Crochet

Hi, I am looking for a Houston, TX area knitting and crochet charity group, or people that would be interested setting one up with me. My idea would be to make scarves, shawls, or throws etc for the victims.

Please email me at diestrickliesel@gmail.com or respond to this post if you have any usable info or have any questions or ideas. Thank you!

The Coolest Knitting Art

Salsa Scarf

Hot stuff! This baby was alot of work, but worth it's while I think. It was inspired by the mexican salsa I make every month. Not that it's the worlds greatest, but the color of it is definately awesome.

This diva scarf is very thick, luscious, ultra soft, hand knit, hand fringed and hand beaded scarf. Beads are red with black mini pompom finish. 10" wide and 72" long - expands worn to 90".
It was made from a mix of Lions Brand Fun Fur and Fancy Fur.

A Scarf for the Rodeo

Another one completed.

This piece was inspired by a visit to the the Houston Rodeo. Eventhough I went there only once, I figured it would work great on one of the chillier days.

This one is a super soft, warm and cozy, fringed and beaded scarf or stole. Beads attached are different shades of blue and turquoise. 10" wide and 72" long and expands when worn . This scarf is knitted from Patons Bohemian yarn.
This one was alot of fun to make.

Thursday

Frogs and Turtles

Finished with a new set of knitting needles. Birch wood, sanded, waxed, sanded and waxed again. The rock these creatures sit on are made of wood.

2 Future Projects

I wish! No this is not one of my creations. I've yanked the images from a google image search, and plugged them here, so I wont forget. One of the photos was from a blogger and the other from an Italian designer named Paola Lenti.
I will attempt to make something like that after I have completed the black and white mini loom scarf.

Monday

The Practical Knitter Loom

This rare vintage specimen just got bought up on eBay by moi. It's much more like the german versions of knitting loom and rake looms.

The instructions look pretty worn, but at age 70 or 80 it's to be expected...I'll know of it's condition once it arrives...

Friday

a Bushel of love- say no more

"a Bushel" of love.
This cat spells love love love, he' s blind as a bat.

This cross eyed wonder demands pawing, stepping, massages his huge feet on our stomach and chest. He drools and drips.and becomes demanding during the 4 PM feeding schedule.
My next project will be a loomed cat hat.......

French Knit Italian Spaggetti

Here are 1/2 of the cords for my new spool knitting project. I have 6 strands of light and 4 strands of dark...so far.
Hopefully I'll be able to assemble the whole mess by the end of the week.

Yarn is 2 different colors of feather soft Phenthex FashionSeven - feels like angora ( it's even softer than my own cat!!!)

Thursday

Looms and Looms

2 more for my collection!! I am so thrilled to say that I was able to get my hands on 2 more hand loom varieties. The knitting nancy, fresh from the UK:

I am currenly working on a french knit braided scarf and will post when done.
Below is the Butterfly loom set, purchased on a discount rack at Hobby Lobby , which works phantastic for shawls and ponchos

Sunday

Cat and Dog Scarfs

Here are my last 2 completed projects. First the dog scarf. Made with a (short) long loom and Patons Devine Deep Earth. Eyes are from glass the and nose is plastic.

The cat scarf was made also by using the (short) long loom and for this design I used the super super soft Yarn Bee Italia Tuscany. Eyes are from glass the and nose is plastic.

Lacy Wrap Stained Glass

Oh this one was a lot of fun to make, fast too. Using the Knifty Knitter yellow round loom and Lion Brand Ribbon Yarn, which gave it somewhat a Stained Glass look. Loomed was one flat panel by skipping every other peg to create this very loose and airy design.

I made 2 of these one in dark blue and this a little brighter version. One my sister in law got for Christmas and the other one someone bought. I would definitely like to make another.
Soon, first I'll have to get the poncho started....

The Magic Loom

Wohoo! I got a set. Lucky enough and thanks to eBay I found this rare childhood memorabilia. The Magic Loom is a metal loom with retractable "pegs" to easily remove your squares or flowers. The coolest tool ever! It will be used for a poncho.

Wednesday

Peppermint Candy Knitting Needles

Here are some of my hand made knitting needles. How about some Peppermint candy? New creation right before the Holidays! No, you can't really eat them, sorry :)

Turquoise
Mushroom
Black Cotton Candy (yummie)

Charcoal Crochet Scarf

Velvet crochet, with soft fringes and charcoal and bronze colored glass beads scattered infrequently and sown directly on the scarf. This scarf is more durable than the delicate knitted scarfs. I used a size 9 crochet hook and Lion Brand Chenille Thick & Quick.

Stormy Scarf with Beaded Fringes

The newest additions in my collection. Knitted from 4 skeins of Lion Brand Fancy Fur Stormy Sea, fringed and beaded with an assortment of glass and acrylic beads. This baby is thick!

Breast Cancer Scarf

Hook who’s talking! This turned out alright!
Super elegant and classy hand crochet and fringed scarf. Fringes are made with the same knitting yarn mixed with pink ribbons. 8" wide and 72" long - expands when worn. For this scarf I used a size 9 crochet hook, DC all the way, with Yarn Bee Sassy Girl Kimmy yarn.
